An illustration of the Mandelbrot set for Mac OS X

large/small screenshot

Mandelbrot is intended to compute and display the Mandelbrot set using either the iteration formula z=z^2+c or z=z^4+c. It was originally intended for benchmarking purposes, but it can just as well be used to simply generate great-looking images.

Mandelbrot features dual- and single-processor support, and support for AltiVec/Velocity Engine (on G4 or higher CPUs).

Mandelbrot requires Mac OS X 10.4 / Tiger. It might run under 10.3 / Panther, but was not tested on that platform.
